United States of Americana for July 28, 2013

This time it was a salute to J.J. Cale. He died of a heart attack this past Friday in La Jolla, CA. I featured a couple from his "Naturally" album from 1972.
Not many artists have a sound all their own, but J.J. certainly did. They called it the "Tulsa Sound." It was laid back, but big on groove. He had many admirers, including his friend Eric Clapton, who covered his music and collaborated with him on the "Road to Escondido" album in 2006.
Rest in peace, Mr. Cale.
