This time on United States of Americana I've got some good stuff coming up. We'll hear a cool new soul/blues tune from Jontavious Willis that'll get your toes tapping! Also on the agenda are songs from Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors featuring Vince Gill, plus Marcedes Carroll, Willie Nelson covers the Flaming Lips, Leon Bridges from his new album and a new song from Dwight Yoakam's first new record in 9 years. I will also dig out an old song from Gordon Lightfoot, as the 49 Anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald is on the 10th of November. 

We'll celebrate on air with 15 songs from artists who helped define the last 15 years, plus memorable in-studio performances from the past decade and a half!

On this United States of Americana I'll feature a few new songs from local artists Turn Turn Turn and The Scarlet Goodbye, featuring Dan Murphy (Soul Asylum & Golden Smog) & Jeff Arundel. We'll check out recent stuff from Benjamin Tod featuring the omnipresent Sierra Ferrell, plus MJ Lenderman & Billy Strings. We’ll will also hear a few tunes for Halloween treats from artists like Johnny Cash, Buck Owens and a brand-new one from JD McPherson! 

On this United States of Americana, I’ll feature a few brand-new songs that just dropped in the last few days! I have tunes from country legend Dwight Yoakam, emerging outlaw country artist Paul Cauthen & Lilly Hiatt, who happens to be the daughter of John Hiatt!     We will also hear from a bunch of artists in town in the week to come, including The Avett Brothers/Trampled By Turtles, Crystal Gayle, The Heavy Heavy, Drive-By Truckers & Richard Thompson, who plays Saturday at the Fitzgerald here in St. Paul!

Another United States of Americana coming! On this show we’ll hear from a bunch of artists coming to town! T-Bone Burnette plays on Wednesday at The Parkway, Pokey LaFarge plays the same night at Fine Line, John Hiatt has a big string of shows at The Dakota & Benjamin Tod performs at First Avenue on Tuesday. I’ll feature new music from Liv Greene & Local artist John Magnusan. I also just received some cool covers from Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Lucinda Williams, and Bo Ramsey. We’ll hear all that and more on the rootsier side of the Current!

On this show we’ll remember Kris Kristofferson who died last weekend at 88 years of age. He was one of the greatest songwriters ever. Kristofferson had a big string of hits recorded by him and others from the late 60’s to mid 70’s. We’ll hear a handful of Kristofferson tunes and a few choice covers. Plus, I have new tunes for us to check out from Kelley Mickwee, Amythyst Kiah and local artist Molly Brandt.

On this United States of Americana we featured nothing but tunes recorded live Sound Stage Studios in Nashville during AmericanaFest 2024. We’ll check out music from artists like Lizzie No, Robert Earl Keen, Wyatt Flores, Hiss Golden Messenger, Amythyst Kiah and we have a couple of tunes from both The Cactus Blossoms and Madi Diaz!

This time on United States of Americana, we’ll hear a couple from The Band, whose self-titled second album was released on this date (Sept. 22) in 1969.

On this United States of Americana, I am going to feature a couple tunes from MJ Lenderman, who’s new album was released a few days ago. He is also set to play First Avenue on October 12th! Johnny Blue Skies (aka Sturgill Simpson) performs at Roy Wilkins Auditorium on September 25th, I’ll have a couple pairs of tickets to give away to the show. I also have new songs from The Heavy Heavy’s full-length debut, and I have a new song from Southern Avenue, who just opened for Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan at Sommerset Amphitheatre.   Join me Sunday at 8am for the USofA!
