Top 10 songs of 2017

Alex Lahey - "Wes Anderson"
A love letter tinged with melancholy.

André Cymone - "We All Need Somethin'"
Great rock and R&B elements, catchy chorus, and Cymone cleverly rhymes "umbilical cord" in the first verse.

Benjamin Booker - "Witness feat. Mavis Staples"
Topical and inspiring with a clap- and sing-along chorus.

Blondie - "Long Time"
This one stuck in my head for four days in June — and I had no problem with that.

Bully - "Feel the Same"
Another awesome indie-rocker from an awesome indie-rock band.

Dan Auerbach - "Stand By My Girl"
Joyful and honest love song.

JAIN - "Makeba"
Totally infectious beat and chorus.

Jason Isbell - "If We Were Vampires"
Absolutely beautiful, tearjerker of a love song; I wrote more about that here.

JD McPherson - "Lucky Penny"
Fantastic first single off what is an incredible album, Undivided Heart & Soul.

Lorde - "Perfect Places"
Could pretty much pick any track from this album for the top 10.

Alice Merton - "No Roots"
Big Thief - "Mythological Beauty"
Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile - "Over Everything"
Future Islands - "Ran"
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit - "Hope the High Road"
