Although the Orwells are from Chicago, lead vocalist Mario Cuomo is wearing a Minnesota Vikings sweatshirt. He makes clear he's not pandering. "[I'm a] big fan, since the baby days," Cuomo says, "growing up watching Vikings games with my grandpa, and I just always stuck with them."

Touring in support of their third studio album, Terrible Human Beings, the Orwells are playing a sold-out show at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis, and Cuomo says he'll wear a Vikings jersey during the show. Before the gig, the Orwells — Cuomo, guitarists Matt O'Keefe and Dominic Corso, bassist Grant Brinner and drummer Henry Brinner — stopped at The Current for a session hosted by Mac Wilson.

The song "They Put a Body in the Bayou" contains eerie imagery, but the tone of Terrible Human Beings seems fun in spite of that. O'Keefe says the process of making the album was definitely enjoyable. "This is probably the most fun we've had, even writing the songs," he says. "It was a good time."

The Orwells primarily let the music do the talking, wasting little time getting right into the rock. Use the audio player above to hear the complete in-studio session with the Orwells.
