4th Curtis perform in The Current's studios

"4th Curtis is about found family and radical honesty," according to members of the brash, charming all-trans band from St. Paul. They live out their mission; Lex Noens (vocals/guitar/bass), Ty Gale (vocals/keys/percussion), and Maddie Morley (drums) started as friends and grew into a tight-knit crew, and none of them hesitate to speak their minds. Due to those traits and many more, they've become a much-loved Twin Cities band. To hear them play live and get to know them a little better, Andrea Swensson recently hosted the band in The Current's studios.
4th Curtis juxtapose heavy material and peppy melodies -- on purpose. After all, they wonder, what good is being sad if you don't make art out of it? Their offbeat, playful vocals and gorgeous piano chords recall Marina and the Diamonds circa The Family Jewels, but the added backstory and ragged punk guitar make the recipe wholly their own.
