Prince tape sells for record amount

A rare Prince promotional tape has become the most expensive cassette ever sold on Discogs. A copy of The Versace Experience — Prelude 2 Gold, originally distributed in a small quantity for Paris Fashion Week 1995, sold for $4,087. (Billboard)

Linda Ronstadt tribute planned

Jackson Browne and Dawes are among the artists confirmed for a Dec. 11 tribute to Linda Ronstadt. Proceeds from the show will go to fund Parkinson's research; Ronstadt, 70, revealed in in 2013 that she has been diagnosed with Parkinson's, and is no longer able to sing. (Billboard)

Beach Slang fire guitarist

Beach Slang have fired their guitarist Ruben Gallego, who is facing allegations that he committed sexual assault four years ago, before the band formed. Gallego calls the accusations "inaccurate," and says he understands his former bandmates' actions because he wants to "continue to foster an environment where people aren't afraid to speak out against their abusers." Leonard Cohen is about to release a new album, but the 82-year-old music legend acknowledges in a New Yorker profile that he is unlikely to tour again. "I am ready to die," says Cohen. "I hope it's not too uncomfortable."

Bowie's favorite albums

NME has found a 2003 list of David Bowie’s favorite "vinyls" — as compiled by Bowie himself for Vanity Fair. The list includes some obvious picks (The Velvet Underground and Nico) as well as some albums you've probably never heard of (The Red Flower of Tachai Blossoms Everywhere, anyone?). One Minnesota album makes the list, and it's not by Prince, Dylan, or the Replacements — it's Blues, Rags and Hollers by Koerner, Ray and Glover.

We can thank, allegedly, Russian hackers for the knowledge that Hillary Clinton campaign chair John Podesta was contacted by Tom DeLonge — who offered to introduce Podesta to a couple of important individuals.

"I think you will find them very interesting," wrote DeLonge, "as they were principal leadership relating to our sensitive topic. Both were in charge of most fragile divisions, as it relates to Classified Science and DOD topics. Other words, these are A-Level officials."
