Behind the scenes at The Current studios
October 11, 2016
Thank you for supporting The Current!
Ever since The Current went on air in 2005, we've broadcast thousands of in-studio sessions from local and touring bands. We've gotten to share hundreds of intimate live performances, which comprise both songs and interview segments with our hosts, but we've never pulled back the curtain on the room where it happens ... until now.
In this behind-the-scenes look at our sessions, technical director Michael DeMark, radio production manager Derrick Stevens, multimedia producer Nate Ryan, and on-air host Mary Lucia open up about the ups and downs of live broadcasting, what it's like to work on in-studios, and the beauties of MPR's Maud Moon Weyerhaeuser studio.
