Heads Up is the latest full-length album from Los Angeles quartet, Warpaint (whose previous releases include 2010's The Fool and 2014's self-titled album). The band recently stopped by our studio to share songs from that forthcoming release and chat with Mac Wilson about what went in to writing and recording the album.

In describing Heads Up, bassist Jenny Lee Lindberg says, "Each song is a surprise, and each song is different than the one that came before and the one that comes after ... you never know what you're going to get."

"I think we've set ourselves up to do it our way," adds guitarist/vocalist Emily Kokal. "We've been really patient, we've taken our time, and I think with this album, there was a desire to try something different ... to make it a little 'dancier' and make it something that would be really fun to play live."

Warpaint will be back in town on Sept. 29 for a show at the Fine Line in Minneapolis.
