Lizzo has announced her major-label debut. The EP Coconut Oil will be released Oct. 7 on Atlantic Records. A first song, "Phone," is out now. (City Pages)

Grammys honor Corden, stiff Beyoncé

At Sunday night's ceremony, Beyoncé’s Lemonade lost its last of four chances to win an Emmy. The award the visual album was up for on Sunday, Best Variety Special, went to James Corden’s Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Prime Time Special. (Billboard)

Iggy Pop to release Post Pop Depression live album, concert film

Iggy Pop has announced the release of a live album and concert film recorded in May. Post Pop Depression: Live at the Royal Albert Hall will be released Oct. 28 on on DVD, Blu-ray and a CD/DVD combo. As a sample, Pop released a clip of "The Passenger." (Rolling Stone)

Adele covers Dylan, credits Winehouse

At a Boston concert on Sept. 14 — the day that would have been the 33rd birthday of Amy WinehouseAdele dedicated her rendition of Bob Dylan’s "To Make You Feel My Love" to Winehouse. "I know that America really caught on to her with Back to Black, but her first album, Frank...really changed my life," said Adele. "I went to music school when I was 14, and when I was like 15 and a half, Frank came out. I used to see her on TV or in magazine shoots with a pink electric guitar, and I used to think she was the coolest motherf---er on the face of the Earth." (Rolling Stone)

Pixie enters rehab

The Pixies have cancelled a string of promotional appearances while guitarist Joey Santiago gets treatment for drug and alcohol addiction. "This is the best thing that Joey could have done, and we're very proud that he's taken this step," said the band's drummer David Lovering in a statement. "We ask all of our fans to support Joey while he's on this road to recovery." (Rolling Stone)

Rush get key to the city

Drake may be getting all the buzz right now, but Toronto hasn't forgotten a trio of three more native sons: Rush. On Friday, an art park opened in the neighborhood where Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson both grew up. It's called the Lee-Lifeson Art Park, and it features a giant likeness of Lee and Lifeson in mosaic tile. The eponymous musicians showed up for the dedication, and were handed the key to the city. Remembering a synth god

Synthesizer inventor Don Buchla has died of cancer at age 79. In the 1960s, Buchla was a pioneer in the creation of modular synthesizers. (Pitchfork)
