"All good things are worth waiting for. If I'm not sick of the songs yet — and it's been a while for some of these — it's nice to see that they have a life."

Ahead of his American Dreamer release show at the Turf Club, Frankie Lee and company (Jeremy Hanson, Jake Hanson, Jeremy Ylvisaker, Barbara Jean and Phil Hicks) stopped by The Current to perform live in-studio and to chat with host Bill DeVille.

Frankie is happy to share American Dreamer back home; it's been out in Europe since October 2015, but some songs have lived for as many as 15 years. "The songs are a period of my life," says Lee. "I guess that's why they call it a record."

Before traveling like a nomad (Frankie's lived in Nashville, Austin, Los Angeles and Milwaukee) and working odd jobs (including farming hogs, which left three of his fretting fingers crushed), Lee's early mentors Curtiss A and Slim Dunlap clearly had an impact on his path to songwriting and performing.

"No one really ever sat me down but they definitely brought me along, which is a big thing for a kid," says Frankie. Indeed, so much so that it inspired an American dreamer.
