The Chart Show: Hippo Campus and Bad Bad Hats continue to break their own record

An even bigger local contingent this week on the chart, now six-strong with the addition of
Cloud Cult at No.13. They will be celebrating the release of their new album next year at
the State Theatre on March 12, with tickets going on sale this Friday. They played my favorite set of our birthday parties four years ago: all songs related to The Current!
Submit your Chart Show ballot this week for a chance to win tickets to the Jayhawks' show at First Avenue on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016!
Perhaps that will be out done this year, though, as another one of my faves bands Low will headline the Friday night edition of The Current's 11th Birthday Parties next year. They're at No.5 this week and made it to No.13 on Mojo Magazine's Top 50 Albums of 2015!
Lizzo moved up one place on the chart leading up to the release of her new album Big GRRRL Small World this Friday. That same day she'll be playing new songs with her posse GRRRL PRTY opening for Mixed Blood Majority at their album release show at First Avenue. P.O.S. is headlining with Marijuana Deathsquads backing him up!
Mixed Blood Majority will also be at our 11th birthday party along with Bad Bad Hats who held on to No.2 again this week. Tickets to the events go on sale to members of Minnesota Public Radio tomorrow and to the general public on Friday (if any remain).
Atmosphere stayed at No.16 this week after headlining an "epic celebration" last Friday at
Target Center, marking the 20th Anniversary of their label Rhymesayers. The Current's multimedia producer Nate Ryan shot some awesome photos at the show.
And Hippo Campus remain at the top for the fourth straight week, the most of any song or artist this year! Next week will be the final new chart of 2015, then we'll do two special shows featuring all the No.1 songs that have been inducted to the Chart Show Hall of Fame.
The highest climber this week is Deerhunter's "Snakeskin," up to No.7 after eight weeks, a slow burner that is on my curated Album of the Year. Not a hierarchical "Top 10"; this is my fave 10 tracks sequenced as an album. You can find all The Current's staff picks and make your own for our Top 89!
Disclosure were also a big mover, up five places, primed to be inducted. They also got a
Grammy nomination this week for Best Dance/Electronic Album along with the Chemical Brothers. Our resident Grammy expert Mac Wilson did an exhaustive breakdown of nominations in the main races.
The other new entries this week are from multi-Grammy Award-winner Adele as well as Beach House, whose Depression Cherry made it to No.16 on Spin's top 50 albums of 2015.
