Strange Names perform in The Current studio
by Andrea Swensson and Strange Names
December 08, 2015
Even though they are now considered a New York-based band, Strange Names pack the clubs every time they swing through to play a show in the city where they were formed. We caught the band on their way through town to play the Triple Rock and invited them into the studio to play a few tracks off their debut full-length, Use Your Time Wisely, which was just released on Frenchkiss Records.
In sync with one another from spending weeks on the road, the band tore through Current listener favorites like "Ricochet" and "I Can't Control Myself." Between songs, we talked about their big move to New York, the lasting impact that Minneapolis has on the band's sound, and how living in New York has allowed them to be more free and expressive about their sexuality (check out the video for "Trespassing" for some NSFW evidence). Just for fun, I also asked the band to share their favorite stories of celebrity sightings in New York, and Liam's tale did not disappoint.
