Theft of the Dial: BORNS
by Mark Wheat and BORNS
November 20, 2015
After Mary Lucia called BØRNS "one of the sweetest, nicest, funnest people to have in a session," The Current's Mark Wheat was delighted to welcome BØRNS — aka Garrett Borns — into the studio for a Theft of the Dial.
BØRNS' debut album, Dopamine, came out on Oct. 16, 2015, and he's been touring in support of it, including a string of sold-out shows on the West Coast. "It's been good," BØRNS says of the tour so far. "It's been a surprising reaction to the record. Everyone has their own favorites. It's just cool seeing people singing along to songs I didn't just think would resonate as much."
After his tour concludes in the United States, BØRNS will start 2016 with a tour of Australia, the home nation of one of his favorite bands. "Growing up, I listened to a lot of the Bee Gees," he says. "Those songs are definitely in my blood, I feel like. And lots of 60s and 70s stuff. I love the glam rock era: Bowie, Marc Bolan, the Zombies, Turtles, that kind of stuff."
We'll hear more of BØRNS' favorite tracks when he takes over the airwaves on Theft of the Dial.
