Any band that would base their name on a character in one of the best folk songs ever written MUST be cool. So when Red Molly sent out their first disc to radio stations nearly a decade ago, I was eager to meet them and learn more about their name and how it is they blend so well.

In the 11-year span of the band's career so far, they've released more than five recordings and toured all over the world. And now, it's time to lay down their Vincent Black Lightning.
The trio have announced that following this summer tour, they'll be going on an "indefinite hiatus" as a trio, but continuing their musical lives after some much-needed rest.

We caught up with Red Molly (Laurie MacAlister, Abbie Gardner and Molly Venter) during their most recent Minnesota visit and got them to stop by the Radio Heartland studio to perform some music from their latest record, The Red Album.

Songs Performed

"Clinch River Blues"
"Sing To Me"
"When It's All Wrong"

Red Molly are:
Abbie Gardner - dobro
Laurie Macalister - bass
Molly Venter - guitar
