Anticipating the release of their debut self-titled album, Eau Claire's Aero Flynn stopped by The Current studio to perform tracks off the new record and to chat with the Local Show's host David Campbell.
Lead by Josh Scott on vocals and guitar, Aero Flynn—Adam Hurlburt (bass/synths/vocals), Mike Noyce (guitar/viola/vocals), Dave Power (drums) and Ben Lester (keys/pedal steel guitar)—recorded their debut self-titled album at Justin Vernon's April Base Studio in their hometown of Eau Claire, WI.
In her detailed review and telling backstory of Aero Flynn, Andrea Swensson describes the self-titled debut: "It sounds like it could have just as easily been beamed down to Earth from the airlock of a space station, the first transmission from an explorer lost in the mesosphere." On the nose. "I did want it to be cosmic in a way," says Scott.
The record certainly took time, friendly encouragement and self-discovery. "The record was the exact thing that I wanted to make and needed to make at that moment," says Josh Scott.
Aero Flynn's self-titled debut drops Tuesday, March 10. The band celebrates the release Friday, April 3 at the 7th St. Entry with support from local acts Carroll and Matt Latterell.
