Barbara Jean could have been a painter, I think. Some of her lyrics on her new album, Darker Than Blue, stir up such images as stars dancing on the water, or waves lapping on to the shore at night. Get the picture?
A good chunk of the new songs were written on the North Shore and brought to the Twin Cities, where Barbara Jean now lives. She enlisted the help of a core of fine musicians from the area and created her second album of songs about heartache, healing and happiness.
Barbara Jean brought her producer, Erik Koskinen, into the Radio Heartland studio along with a band of seasoned players from the area to chat and to play songs from Darker Than Blue.
Songs performed:
"Wishing Well"
"Siren Song"
"What's Right"
Musicians:
Barbara Jean - banjo and fiddle
Erik Koskinen - electic guitar
Dave Gustafson - acoustic guitar and banjo
Crystal Myslajek - keyboard
James Buckley - bass
Jeremy Hanson - drums
Hosted and produced by Mike Pengra
