Temples perform in The Current studio
by Mark Wheat and Temples
April 24, 2014
In town to play a gig at First Avenue in support of their debut album, Sun Structures, Temples stopped in to The Current's studio to play a few songs and to chat with Mark Wheat.
The psych-rock foursome — James Bagshaw, Thomas Warmsley, Sam Toms and Adam Smith — describe how they landed on their genre more or less by accident. "This is what we write," Bagshaw says of his band's signature sound, reflective of the atmospheric music of the 1960s and 70s.
In the midst of an ambitious North American tour, Temples are happy to be playing a show at First Avenue in Minneapolis. Listen to the complete interview to hear more about the music scene in Temples' hometown of Kettering, Northants., and about how James Bagshaw got started playing guitar.
