Jake Bugg performs an acoustic set live in The Current studios

It was a gift from an uncle that launched singer-songwriter Jake Bugg's career. Until he was 12 years old, Bugg was only interested in playing soccer. But when an uncle presented the preteen Bugg with a guitar, Bugg "knew it was what [he] wanted to do." Zero lessons and three chords later, he has a critically acclaimed debut platinum record.
Now 19 years old, the Nottingham, England, native is on his second visit to Minnesota. Last time he was here, Bugg was supporting Noel Gallagher and Snow Patrol. Now, he's headlining a sold-out show at the Fine Line.
Bugg stopped by the studios of 89.3 The Current to talk to Barb Abney about his influences, about touring, what he thinks of One Direction, and what's it's been like recording with Malibu, Calif.-based producer extraordinaire Rick Rubin.
Songs performed
